Harding Street Main Drain Rehabilitation
A section of the Harding Street Main Drain in Coburg is being replaced by the Pipelines Alliance, on behalf of Melbourne Water.
The section under repair is approximately 80 years old and runs from the corner of Alva Grove and Urquhart Street, through the grounds of Coburg Senior High School to the Merri Creek.
Work involves demolishing the old box drain and replacing it with two new pipes, as well as replacing the concrete headwall near the creek with a rock-lined outlet more in keeping with the environment.
Construction began in November 2009 and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2010.
While some trees and other vegetation had to be removed to allow this work to take place, we have worked closely with the school, council and Merri Creek Management Committee to prepare a plan for the replanting of over 700 plants.
